Stevie Lee Tanner was born in Oberlin, Ohio. She received her BFA in both Painting & Drawing and Printmaking from The University of Akron in 2014, and received her MFA in Printmaking from the University of Delaware in 2016. Tanner has exhibited in the U.S. and abroad, including shows at The Cleveland Museum of Art, in Cleveland, Ohio, The Delaware Center For Contemporary Art in Wilmington, DE, and Kunstraum Tapir in Berlin, Germany. She currently teaches introductory and advanced printmaking at the University of Delaware, in Newark, DE.
The word Ecology is derived from the greek “oikos”, meaning: house, or living place. Of course, "-ology" refers to “the study of”.
My work investigates the idea of home, habitat, and place.
I am interested in integrating traditional techniques and materials with found objects and natural specimens. My work is heavily based on process as well as my personal relationship to the place in which I exist.
